Robert E. "Brownie" Brown, age 75, 3640 Second Street, Bloomsburg, died at 9:40 a. m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for 11 days. He had been in failing health for the past three years.
Born in Bloomsburg on January 6, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Esther (Seybert) Brown. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area.
Brownie was employed at the former S & B Foundry in Scott Township for 22 years. He also was employed at the former Ivey's Greenhouse on Barton Street for a number of years. For many years he worked with the late Richard "Dick" Fornwald at his dinner stand at the annual Bloomsburg Fair.
He enjoyed planting flowers and working on his lawn and cutting the grass. His favorite pastime activity was hunting.
Brownie is survived by his longtime companion, Joan Schechterly, who resided with him; a daughter, Jill M., wife of Michael R. Whitenight, Millville; a grandson, Zachary Whitenight and a granddaughter, Nicole Whitenight, both of Millville; eight siblings: Linda, wife of Glenn D. Titman, Bloomsburg; Sharon, wife of Harry W. Neufer, Spring Hill, Florida; John Brown, Jr., and his wife Pamela, Danville; James N. Brown, Catawissa; Edith, wife of Ronald Wegrzynowicz, Catawissa (Numidia); Terry N. Brown, and his wife Barbara, Bloomsburg; Connie J., wife of Terry Long, Bloomsburg; Kathy, wife of Chester Stigerwalt, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Robert Strozyk, pastor of the Mill-Green United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Dutch Hill Cemetery. Viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
