Ralph Craig Dillon, age 63, of Bloomsburg, passed away at 1:31 p. m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following complications from chronic diffuse scleroderma.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 8, 1953, he was a son of the late Ralph L. and Carolyn J. (Hoch) Dillon. He attended the former Ben Franklin Elementary School at Bloomsburg State Teachers College for six years and went on to graduate from Bloomsburg High School in 1971 where he excelled in academics, wrestling and football. In 1975 he graduated from Colgate University, Hamilton, New York, where he majored in English.
Ralph resided in the Boston, Mass. area for nine years before returning to Bloomsburg to manage Ralph Dillon's Flowers in 1986. He became the owner of the business in 2009 following the passing of his father.
He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, where he assisted with the St. Columba Teen Life Program and was a member of the St. Columba School Board of Education.
Ralph was a Cursillista of the 88th Men's Cursillo weekend. He enjoyed reading, music, writing, jogging, nature, time with Christ, his grandchildren and family, and dog, Brandy.
Surviving are his wife, Debora A. (Taylor) Dillon, with whom he celebrated his 34th wedding anniversary on March 5, 2017; a daughter, Caitlin, wife of Adam Davis, Plum; two grandchildren: Hannah and Tyler Davis; two brothers: Steven L. Dillon, and his wife Deborah, McKean; Christopher M. Dillon, and his wife Joanna, Bloomsburg; two nieces and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, on Friday at 11 a. m. by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 10-11 a. m. A reception will follow the interment at St. Columba Church for his family and friends to celebrate his life.
