Julius P. Rossi, age 87, 90 Sunny Hillside Road, Benton, died at 3:35 p. m. Monday, January 1, 2018 at The Williamsport Home in Williamsport where he was a patient since March 24, 2017.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 7, 1930. Julius resided in Old Bridge, New Jersey from 1959 to 1979 when he relocated to Benton. He was employed by Kawneer, Co., Bloomsburg for 15 years, retiring in 1995.
Julius loved woodworking, collecting coins , hunting and fishing.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. It was his love for his family and all the quality time he spent devoted to his family that he cherished the most. He was cherished by his family and all will miss him dearly, especially his great grandchildren, who adored him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss the strong presence that he had in their lives.
Julius was an avid story teller and these stories made an impact on the lives he touched. It was his love for God and his family that will always be remembered. He was a member of the Benton Bible Baptist Church .
He was preceded in death by his parents , brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie M. Scimeca, with whom he observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 3, 2017; a daughter, Donna M. Rossi-Bates, Williamsport; a son, John A. Rossi, and his wife Su, Honolulu, Hawaii; five grandchildren: Matthew J. Bates, and his wife Shannah, Jason S. Bates; Thomas M. Bates, Charlene Pimentel, and Alex Ho; four great grandchildren: Thomas, Vanessa, Giavanna and Veronica. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p. m. in the Benton Bible Baptist Church, 250 Shickshinny Road, Benton, with Pastor Paul Gustine, retired Baptist minister from Berwick officiating. Viewing at the Church from 1:30 to 2:30 p. m.
