Eleanor M. (Thomas) Belles, age 99, 211 Mill Street, Orangeville, died at 9:15 a. m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted on Sunday.
Born in Greenwood Township, on April 10, 1918, she was a daughter of the late DeForrest "Jack" and Mary C. (Davis) Thomas. She resided in Orangeville for over 70 years and was a 1936 graduate of the former Orangeville High School.
Eleanor was employed by the former Dockey Shirt Factory, Benton and at the former McCarty Nursing Home in Orangeville earlier in her life.
She was a member of the Orangeville United Church and the Women's Guild of the church. For many years she also served as the church custodian.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, C. Horace Belles on August 12, 2008, ending a marriage of 70 years; by three brothers: Doyle Thomas, Earl Thomas, Gerald Thomas; and by four sisters: Gertrude Rhone, Helen Young, Vera Artman and Ruth L. Belles.
She is survived by two daughters: Delores A., wife of Paul E. Reichart and Betty Jean, wife of Glen H. Shaw, all of Orangeville; a granddaughter, Kelly, wife of David Klinger, Berwick; three great-grandchildren: Cody, Jake and McKenzie Klinger; a brother, Harold Thomas, Allentown; a sister, Lena Thomas, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor Mark Rowell officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 a. m.
